The continuing education for doctors, dentists and pharmacists

To fulfill the continuing education obligation, it is necessary to obtain and certify 250 continuing education points. The 250 points consist of both theoretical and practical credits.

Regarding continuing education, doctors, dentists and pharmacists must choose one of four Hungarian Universities Continuing Education Center.

Exemptions from the continuing education obligation:

  • General practitioners participating in residency training;
  • Physicians, dentists, or pharmacists who obtain a new specialization during the validity of their operational registration;
  • Healthcare workers who have reached the age of 75.

The continuing education for healthcare professionals (physiotherapists, nurses, midwives, etc.)

Healthcare professionals must earn 150 continuing education credits within the validity period of their operational registration (continuing education period), according to their qualifications, as follows:

  • Practical training (minimum 60, maximum 100 points)
  • Mandatory theoretical continuing education within the professional group (30 points)
  • Elective theoretical continuing education (minimum 20, maximum 60 points)
