  • in general medicine
  • certain qualifications in specialised medicine
  • in general dentistry
  • certain qualifications in specialised dentistry
  • in nursing
  • in midwifery
  • in pharmacy

which have been issued in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lichtenstein, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Malta, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland or in the Netherlands by an authorised educational institution can be recognised automatically.

Requirements of the procedure

  • Diploma earned by a national of a Member State.1
  • Diploma obtained in a Member State.
  • The denomination of the diploma corresponds with the denominations listed in Decree 4/2008 of the Minister of Health and it was issued after the date laid down therein
    or
  • the diploma does not meet with the denomination requirement mentioned above, but it comes with an accompanying document which certifies that it was issued after the successful completion of a training which satisfy the minimum training requirements of the Directive 2005/36/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council on the recognition of professional qualifications (hereinafter referred to as the ’Directive’) with reference to Article 24., 25., 28., 31., 34., 35., 40., 44., and Annex V.

The diploma can also be recognised automatically by the National Directorate General For Hospitals even if it was not issued after the successful completion of a training satisfying the minimum training requirements of the Directive, but it comes with an accompanying document issued by a Member State based on the diploma could be recognised automatically.

You need to attach the following documents to the application:

  • Application form filled out by the Applicant
  • Simple photocopies of documents certifying the citizenship, identity
  • Certified copy and Certified Hungarian translation of the original diploma (or exceptionally the certified copy of a document identical to the original one)
  • If necessary, the certified copy and certified Hungarian translation of a document which allows the conduct of an automatic recognition of the diploma (e.g. a certificate of conformity)

1 Those persons could also be deemed a national of a Member State, who are  citizens of one of the Member States of the  European Economic Area (hereinafter referred to as the ’EEA’) or those who have the same legal status as the citizens of a Member State (hereinafter referred to as the ’Member State’) of the European Economic Area, pursuant to international agreements concluded with either the European Community or with the European Economic Area and those who have the same legal status as the persons above granted by other provisions of the Community law.
